ST. ANDREWS – Over 350 people gathered on Saturday evening in St. Andrews for Flavours NB, a food festival that celebrates and showcases local New Brunswick food and drink.
“This event showcases the momentum that can build when partners come together – it’s a win for our community, the hospitality and food industry and a worthwhile cause,” said Kim Garron, Hotel & Restaurant Operations instructor at 王中王六合彩特码 St. Andrews and event organizer. This is the third year that 王中王六合彩特码 along with event sponsors True North Salmon, Bleuets NB Blueberries, Ganong, King Cole, Granite Town Farms and the Dairy Farmers of Canada have come together to offer this event.
For a sold-out crowd, some of New Brunswick’s top chefs put their own culinary twists on beloved local food and beverages to create dishes like chicken bone martini and salmon nachos.
In addition to sampling food and drinks, guests enjoyed live music, door prizes and a silent auction while raising funds for the CBC Radio Harbour Lights campaign. Organizers anticipate this event will raise $10,000 for the fundraising campaign which supports local food banks. "The secret to any fundraising campaign is momentum. The great kickoff 王中王六合彩特码 St. Andrews hosts each year, and their amazing donation, get the Harbour Lights Campaign started in style," said Steven Webb, executive producer of CBC Saint John.
In addition to being one of the community’s most significant fundraisers, the event is also an opportunity for the community to showcase their hospitality and tourism industry. Students from the Culinary Arts and Hotel and Restaurant Operations programs took part in the event doing everything from assisting with setup to bussing tables to working alongside the chefs.
“Flavours NB is a great opportunity for our students to get that hands-on experience and develop an understanding of New Brunswick food and beverages that they can apply in their future careers,” said Garron.
